Longing

Darkness visits me
Holds my hand – comforts me
You are lying beside me
Tucked, wrapped inside cloth
Like a mummy.
I want to reach for you
You respond only for yourself
My desire tempts me like a starved tempest
To stroke your olive skin
Your face
Filled with newly grown stubble.
I turn away
Holding the only softness I know
Silent tears slide down
Longing
Desire
Stillness in the air.

Wow, there is a poignancy that I have felt myself. Thank you for putting such amazing words to feelings.
